The International Oceania Reporter Intern will cover international content focused on the nations and territories in Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia as their regular beat for Modern Treatise.

The candidate should be adept at understanding the geopolitics of Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

The candidate should be adept at understanding the nuances of domestic/national politics across Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia.

The candidate must be able to look at geopolitical subject matters from multiple perspectives.

The candidate must be adept at relying on fact-based evidence rather than political or activist wish-thinking.

The candidate should be adept at understanding the ever-shifting state of the economy or economies of the Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia region.

Responsibilities:

• Write a weekly column covering the social, economic, and political topics related to Oceania from a Melanesian, Micronesia, and Polynesian perspectives.

• Special region-related coverage.

Duration: 6 months

This is a virtual and unpaid internship. Yet, you will gain valuable writing experience.
